Disaster Updates:
how to support
Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee have paired up to deliver a financial punch estimated at $1 billion in damage. Homes remain without power and flood waters are still receding as victims and responders assess the destruction and work towards recovery.
Another byproduct of Lee's strong winds are the wild fires that have been ravaging Texas since September 4. More than 1,500 homes have already been destroyed. The South Texas District reports that some Nazarene families and one church's pastor have been included in evacuations, but have remained safe.
The national Nazarene Disaster Response (NDR) office remains in communication with districts and local NDR coordinators during this time of need. While locally organized responses are being implemented, requests for outside assistance have not been made for these disasters.
However, the need for volunteers remains desperate in Minot, North Dakota. Please consider supporting our brothers and sisters who have suffered the devastation of this unexpeced flood. Organized volunteer opportunities for Minot can be accessed at www.NazServe.org.
