Disaster Updates:

Tornado Season Continues

Tornado season continues to cause damage around the United States. On Tuesday, April 3rd a series of tornadoes swept through Texas. As many as a dozen tornadoes touched down in the Dallas – Fort Worth area. The damage is estimated to have affected 650 homes and several other properties. Fortunately, no deaths and only a few injuries have been reported.

Coming on the heels of catastrophic storms in the Ohio River Valley at the beginning of March, these storms are only the beginning of what is predicted to be an active tornado season. The situation in Texas is still being assessed. Any recovery efforts will be reported as they are established.

Disaster response begins with the local church. Initially the effort begins with resources available in the local church along with other community resources, providing disaster relief consistent with the mission of compassion. When the needs surpass the local church, it is augmented by district involvement, including volunteers and additional resources. Finally, the general church, through combined resources of a great global family of Nazarenes, can pray, volunteer, and give, thereby multiplying the capability of the disaster relief response effort.

As always the General community may assist through monetary donations. The funds collected will assist those in affected areas. The recovery response will stretch beyond these immediate days into the coming months. Your financial contribution will assist long after the media has left and families are still rebuilding their lives and communities.
